Philippe Starck is a French Product designer who was born in 1949 in Paris.  He is responsible for designing anything from spectacular interior designs to everyday mass produced goods such as toothbrushes, cups and saucers.  For the last two decades he has been ones of the designers responsible for some iconic and cult pieces manufactured by the Italian giant Alessi. The Alessi Juicy Salif was designed by Starck in 1990 and is as popular today as when it was first released.  The piece has been described as being to the piece that would not have looked out of place on the Barbarella film set.
