Praying For Guest Beds!
The CEO of a guest beds manufacturer had a great idea for selling more. He sought an audience with the Pope and asked to sponsor the Lord’s prayer if it could be rewritten slightly. “Give us this day our daily guest bed” would become the new line. While 2 million pounds would go to the Vatican.
The Pope was outraged saying the word of God could not be bought for 2 million pounds. OK, make it 3 million said the CEO.
Next day the Pope called all his cardinals together. The good news was, he reported, that the Vatican had earned 3 million pounds. The bad news though…”We have lost the Hovis contract”.
