Is a Specialist my Specialty?
After receiving your medical assistant diploma, you have the option of working at a hospital or at a doctor’s office. However, a doctor’s office with a specialty may be a good fit for you. Specialty doctor’s offices need individuals with a medical assistant diploma also. There are podiatric medical assistants that help the podiatrist by making casting of feet, exposing and developing x-ray film, and even assisting the podiatrist during surgery. There are also ophthalmic medical assistants that assist ophthalmologists in providing eye care, conducting diagnostic tests, measuring and recording vision, and testing eye muscle function. They may also even assist the ophthalmologist during surgery. A specialty doctor may be the right career path for you after receiving a medical assistant diploma.
