Blu Ray discs will surely replace DVD discs

Blu ray technology is a technology in which a blue violet laser light at 405 nm is used to read or write to the optical media ( 650 nm red laser light is used to read and write DVDs). This shorter wavelength of light allows more space on the optical media and hence blu ray discs have enormous storage capacities. In addition, shorter wavelength is easier to control. With the advancements in communication technologies, especially internet and network, data transfer has become fairly easy. There was need for something which was portable and also could store enormous amount of data. This became possible with blu-ray discs. A dual layer blue ray discs can store up to 50 GB of data. Backing up of important files is no longer a difficult affair. Blu-ray technology is here to stay!
